2017 went by so fast. Some things may have been left unsaid, goals unmet, and lists unchecked. I for one have a lot of unfinished business.
The thing is, I started making lists and plans, and that was it. The stress of preparing to make something took the best of me... and now all I have are lists. Lists of what I should have done. Plans on how to better myslef. In the end what ifs and maybes are all that come into mind.
A new look and outlook for 2018. |
For this year I intend to change my strategy. I have learned that I cannot do everything myself, and not everything has to be perfect and by the book. Moreover, I should be able to take it one day at a time. I must savor the challenges that each day has to bring, and with determination and will... make things happen. Here are the 5 (MATCH) steps that will guide me as I embark on a fruitful year:
1. Manage my strengths. We are inclined to overuse our strengths, but this creates an unbalance environment. For a better outcome, managing it would be more beneficial. As we manage our strength, we strengthen that ability -quality over quantity.
2. Acknowledge my weaknesses. As we cannot do everything ourselves, the ability to ask for assistance is a skill that needs to be learned. Humbling oneself to ask others for help teaches us that we are all connected and we stand as one in hope for a better future.
3. Take one step at a time. Accomplish things day-to-day. A small task accomplished is a battle won before the war.
4. Consistensy is key. Doing small things daily makes a habit. The best thing after making something a habit: the deed just comes naturally.
5. Have the time to reward yourself and your loved ones. Never forget to thank those who inspired, helped, and motivated you along the way. A celebration isn't worth celebrating without sharing that time with those closest to us.
Today marks a new begining, a chance to better ourselves... a fresh start. We welcome 2018 with open arms, new opportunities, and endless possibilities. May we grow in love, live in happiness, and prosper in contentment.
